Fillipo Rizzo’s project is based on the island of Sicily in the town of San Michel di Ganzaria, a small village high up in the heartland of the islands interior. A dry, somewhat arid area, set among rolling hills and farmland. The five hectares of vines he cultivates organically benefit from dramatic temperature drops between day and night. And Filipo works diligently to produce healthy, beautiful fruit. Like many of Sicily’s great winemakers, Fillipo’s wines have an uncanny way of telling you where they are from. They quietly burst with Mediterranean sunshine, concentrated fruit, dry herbs and spice and the unmistakable language of Sicily’s Interior. Alongside some of our favourites from chef Bruno’s menu here at Bica-San, he has created a few new dishes, all to be washed down with the wonderful wines of Lamoresca.
